This year round swim program
was started in 1996 to reach to all levels of swimmers. The program
has been very successful with all levels of swimmers improving and
reaching their goals. In our program we also believe in cross
training. If you are interested in STAT, please email Coach Todd at

Todd Hoffmeier
is the head coach/president of the South Tampa Aquatic Swim
Team.
Todd has more than 19 years of coaching
experience, having taught swimmers everything from stroke
technique, goal setting, self confidence, commitment, and video
analysis. He works
with all ages of swimmers from toddlers to teenagers, teaching
proper technique and a love of the
sport.
Originally from Arizona, Todd was a state
champion in the 200 IM and runner-up in the 100 fly as a
youth. He came to
Tampa on a University of Tampa swimming scholarship. He swam for three years,
graduating in 3½ with a bachelor of science in elementary
education. Todd has
coached several of his swimmers to the collegiate level, and he has
coached high school swimming, most notable, Maritza Correia, a
former Olympian. He also was selected as a Spring
2010 All-Star Coach for Florida
Swimming.
Additionally, Todd coaches swimming at Palma
Ceia Country Club in South Tampa, starting as an assistant coach in
1995, and then promoted to head coach in 1998. Many of his
swimmers have become Private Club League Champions during his
tenure as head coach.
During his competitive swim career, Todd
swam under Pierre Lafontaine, former head coach of the Phoenix Swim
Club in Arizona, and now head of Canadian Swimming, as well as Bob
Gillett, head coach of Golden West Swim Club and owner of the
Arizona Sports Ranch.
Todd is a member of numerous coaching
organizations; is certified in CPR/AED; First Aid; WSI; is an avid
lifeguard trainer; is a Level 3 ASCA Swim Coach; and, he has been
recognized by the USA Level 2 Swim Team recognition
program.
Laura
Allencame to Tampa
from Sarasota to attend the University of Tampa in 1990. At
UT, Laura earned her degree in Elementary Education and has been a
teacher for 15 years. She was an All-American swimmer and still
holds the 200 yd Breaststroke school record at UT. Laura
stayed at UT after graduation and was an assistant coach for the
college and club team for 10 years. Laura
coaches Age Group I and Age Group II.
Keelee Wrenn will
be working with all levels of swimmers. She swam at Seton Hall
University and has a strong background in teaching swimming. She
has been involved with coaching swimming since 1999 which has
involved private, group, stroke technique, etc. She has swam
competitively for 19 years. She is going to the University of Tampa
this fall to work on her Master's Degree in Business.
BRYAN COLEMANis new to our staff and will be working with all of
our swim groups. Brian formerly was an assistant coach
for Irondequoit Swim Club in Rochester, NY and then
relocated to Florida in 2003 and became an assistant swim coach for
the Land O' Lakes Lightning swim club. In college, Brian swam
at Niagara University, a division I athletic conference school on
an athletic scholarship.
Brian has been been involved with swimming and teaching
children how to swim for many years. He currently works for
the county as the Lifeguard Supervisor at a county park/beach in
the south shore area.
Blaine Bess
just finished his collegiate swimming career at the University
of Tampa and is now swimming on the master's team. He is graduating
from the University of Tampa in May with a degree in Secondary
Education. Blaine has worked with our swim program for several
years now with coaching and teaching swim lessons. Blaine
will be working with the Dolphin Group, Age Group I, Age Group II
and higher swimmers.
Dani Heaton will be working
with Age Group I and Age Group II swimmers. Dani was
born in Texas where she swam competitively in high school and
for the Donner Swim Club. After graduating she then went
on to swim at the University of Kansas. She then moved
to Iowa where she was an assistant coach for the Rock
Island Orcas for 2 years. Dani has a great enthusiasm
for the sport of swimming.
Lauren Bentz
just graduated from the University of Tampa in December with a
degree in Elementary Education. Lauren spent her years growing up
in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as a swimmer and a runner. She has
accomplished running the 2009 Disney Marathon and the 2010
Gasparilla Marathon. She also spent her 2008 summer coaching swim
team at Camp Romaca. Lauren coaches the Dolphin Group and Age Group
I.
Charlsey
Reynolds
just graduated from the University of Florida
with a bachelor science in Psychology and a minor in Education. She
swam all four years on the varsity swim team at H.B. Plant High and
has enjoyed the sport since she was young. She works with the
Dolphin Group and Age Group I swimmers to develop their skills and
perfect their strokes in order to compete to the best of their
abilities.
